BIOENERGY 2020+

Bioenergy2020+ is the Austrian biomass centre of competence providing mainly applied RTD, but also engineering, consultancy, training and networking services to industrial customers. Bioenergy2020+ is run under private law and currently employs about 100 researchers (headcount, ~ 70 full-time equivalents).

Bioenergy2020+ is structured in three fields of RTD:

■    (I) small scale biomass combustion

■    (II ) emission characterization

■    (III) measurement methods and procedures.

More than 90% of Bioenergy2020+´s industrial customers (>100) are SMU-AGs, most of which benefit from BE2020’s outstanding expertise in small scale biomass combustion technology and in development of advanced assessment & testing procedures.

BE2020 is among Europe’s leading research organizations in the field of biomass combustion. The available analytical and experimental equipment includes gas- and particulate analyzers as well as test stands equipped with a calorimeter chamber for direct efficiency determination of room heaters and a dilution tunnel for particle measurement. BE2020+ has an outstanding experience in the development of firewood and pellet heating appliances and the development of related assessment procedures.

Main tasks and responsibilities
